Role Purpose
The Site Maintenance Worker plays a key role in maintaining a safe, functional, and well-presented environment across the Lodge Trust site.
The role combines general maintenance and repair responsibilities with practical external and grounds-based work, ensuring both buildings and outdoor areas are maintained to a high standard.
This is a hands-on, varied role, requiring a proactive approach and sound practical skills. The ability to work across outdoor estate maintenance tasks and additionally support the indoor maintenance aspect of the Facilities department.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Keeping our buildings and outdoor spaces safe, functional, and well maintained through a wide range of hands-on repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance – from fixing doors, locks, and basic plumbing to supporting general building upkeep.
  • Maintaining outdoor areas including pathways, fencing, gates, and landscaping to ensure the site is safe, accessible, and presentable year-round.
  • Supporting seasonal tasks such as hedge cutting, vegetation control, gritting, and snow clearance.
  • Playing an active role in health and safety by carrying out checks, identifying risks, and working in line with policies and procedures.
  • Working alongside contractors to ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Helping create a clean, welcoming environment across the site that residents, staff, and visitors can enjoy.
  • Supporting events and day-to-day operations, including setting up spaces and moving equipment when needed.
  • Working as part of a friendly, supportive team while also managing tasks independently.
  • Contributing to a respectful, person-centred environment for adults with learning disabilities, always maintaining dignity and sensitivity.

What we’re looking for:
  • Practical experience in general maintenance, repairs, or facilities work (around 2–3 years or similar hands-on experience).
  • Confidence carrying out a range of basic maintenance and outdoor tasks such as minor repairs, fencing, and grounds upkeep.
  • A good understanding of health and safety in the workplace.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to organise your workload effectively.
  • A reliable, flexible attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic IT skills for logging tasks and communicating with the team.
  • A calm, respectful approach when working in a care or supported environment.
  • A positive, team-focused mindset and a willingness to learn and adapt.

It’s a bonus if you have:

A trade qualification (e.g. maintenance, carpentry, plumbing).
Experience in a care, residential, or supported living setting.
Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fire safety checks, or compliance processes.
Experience working with contractors or external services.
Awareness of COSHH, safeguarding, or health and safety regulations.
